Breckin Meyer Honors 'Magical' Brittany Murphy 10 Years After Her Death

Breckin Meyer honored Brittany Murphy on the 10th anniversary of her death.

Friday marked a decade since the late Clueless star died of pneumonia on December 20, 2009, at the age of 32. In her honor, one of Murphy’s castmates in the 1995 film, Meyer, took to social media with a heartfelt memorial in remembrance of her enduring legacy. “10 years ago, this magical, fantabulous angel left us WAY too early,” the 45-year-old actor tweeted. “So crazy talented & the sweetest lil fairy ya ever could meet.”

Fans of the iconic movie will recall Meyer portrayed Travis, who was head over heels for Murphy’s onscreen tomboy persona, Tai. “Full Disclosure: Travis kisses Tai on the head because Brit was always like a lil sister to me,” Meyer revealed in the tweet.

According to Us Weekly, Meyer along with fellow Clueless alumni Alicia Silverstone and Paul Rudd, who played step-siblings-turned-couple Cher and Josh, all spoke fondly of the Just Married starlet at the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo in March.

During the Clueless panel, Silverstone gushed she was “blown away” by Murphy’s audition for the film, saying: “I had to tell Amy [Heckerling], just in case she didn’t know, that Brittany Murphy was the one that had to play the part … she was so good.”

“She was a sweet person, too. She was — she was just always so smiley and sweet,” Rudd chimed in, as Meyer complimented Murphy’s star turn the Eminem starrer, 8 Mile. “Like, you see Tai, and then you watch 8 Mile, and you’re like, ‘That’s the same person? … She was so incredibly talented.”
